The Bayelsa state high court sitting in Sagbama has restrained some supporters of the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state and former governor, Timipre Sylva from parading themselves as party leaders.

The presiding judge, E.G Omukoro barred the defendants, Joseph Fafi, Tonye Okio, Fortune Parnebi and Mr Alabo Martins from taking steps to set up any disciplinary committee to entertain allegations against Timipa Orunimighe, the state APC chairman and Daniel Marlin, the party’s secretary.

A statement signed in Abuja on Tuesday, April 12 by Orunimighe said Ex Parte Injunctions bars the defendants from both establishing a disciplinary panel to investigate the ongoing crisis and function in the capacities of the claimants.

The exparte injuction issued on April 11, and signed by Abalando M. Deseghafuo, the chief of court administrator reads: “ An order of ex parte injunction restraining the 1st – 4th defendants from interfering or stopping the 1st – 3rd claimants from functioning in their respective offices as state chairman, state deputy chairman and state secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Bayelsa State chapter pending the determination of motion on notice.

“An order of ex parte injunction restraining the 1st – 4th from taking any step like setting up a disciplinary committee .”

There’s been crisis in the party over the appointment of the present minister of state for agriculture, Heineken Lokpobri.

Orunimighe and some members of the state executive committee had accused Lokpobiri of buying the ministerial slot meant for Bayelsa state from Sylva, asking him to resign. They also accused Sylva of selling appointments to his cronies.

The party subsequently suspended Sylva and other party chieftains over allegations of bribery and anti-party activities.
