Buhari to announce postmaster general soon - Minister

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to announce the new postmaster general of the federation and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

This was disclosed by the minister of communication, Adebayo Shittu during the Technology in Government 2016 held at the National Space Research and Development Agency International Conference Centre, Obasanjo Space Centre, Abuja.

The event which was organised by the Nigeria Information Technology Professionals in Civil and Public Service had the theme –

Information Technology: The Enabling Tool and Veritable Tool to Deliver ”Change” .

Speaking to journalists at the event, the minister said 47 people applied and that the ministry appointed internationally renowned consulting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to conduct the interview.

Shittu said: ”They were the advisers for the recruitment processes, they ranked people and shortlisted 21 persons.

”The interview process involved both a written test, computerised test and interview proper. At the end of the day, one person will emerge as the postmaster general of Nigeria and that person has been recommended to Mr President.”

The minister further revealed that as soon as the president gives approval to the name of the person, then Nigerians will have a new postmaster general.
