The disgruntled members of the Campaign for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) blocked the convoy of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state on his way to the office.

According to Vanguard, the group staged a demonstration against corruption at one of the lanes of the Gbongan-Ibadan expressway in Osogbo, the Osun state capital on Wednesday.

Carrying anti-corruption and anti-crisis placards the protesters stopped the governor’s convoy in front of the Federal High Court.

They blamed corruption for the current economic crisis and chanted that the amount of money looted from the state treasury was enough to provide cutting-edge infrastructure in the country.

They were later dispersed by police and security officials. However, soon afterwards several representatives of the CDHR met with the governor, who praised their actions against human rights abuses in Nigeria.

He said: “As we are condemning corruption, so must we speak against low productivity, corruption is a scourge that must be stopped and low productivity is a curse that must be rejected.”

The governor also urged the group to continue supporting the war aginst corruption resumed by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
