Prisons boss beat up female lawmaker for overtaking his 20-car convoy

Security operatives and aides attached to the convoy of the Controller General of Prisons, Dr. Peter Ekpendu, allegedly assaulted a female lawmaker, Hon. Joan Mprakpor, representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State, for overtaking his convoy within the premises of the National Assembly.

This is according to a petition brought before the House of Representatives at plenary on Thursday by the Minority Leader of the House, Rep. Leo Ogor.

Mkrakpor was reportedly driving out of the National Assembly when she overtook the 20-car convoy of the Prisons’ boss.

Narrating the incident, Ogor said: “They blocked her car, and started bashing her car. When she wound down the windows, an aide slapped her in the face. The CG sat in the comfort of his car while this happened.”

Ogor said the alleged assault is not only embarrassing to the National Assembly but also a breach of the House rules.

Mr. Ekpendu will appear before the plenary to explain why he allowed this to happened under his watch.
