The organisation promised to protect the nation’s democracy and democratic principles, by focusing on the youth segments to propagate good governance and rule of law while pursuing quality and excellence in the conduct of its affairs.

The publisher of the newspaper Dr. Rasaq Olayinka Oseni said that the medium is the latest addition to the vibrant Nigerian newspaper market, adding that The Youth prides itself as the number one news source of news and information for professionals and policy makers in the youth service sector.

According to him the major focus of the newspaper is to provide, unbiased and independent report on issues that affect or concern Nigerian youths while also availing the public the inspiring stories of the young generation.

He noted that the reason for the establishment of the newspaper is to fill vacuum and the need for the youth that constitute about 70 percent of the country’s population to have a voice of their own.

“Our focus will also be in the areas of youth entrepneurship and creating a mentoring process in a way of enlightenment and reorientation of being an active participant instead of a spectator in the scheme of things in the country.

“The aim of the newspaper is to provide a kind of medium that youth will have hand on access about information that concerns them.

“To create a rallying point for the youths to see themselves as an employer of labour rather than focusing on getting a job after school and provide a platform to enlighten them on how to go about it,” he pointed.

The newspaper according to Oseni will be a free fortnightly published newspaper, with a current print capacities of 10, 000 copies that is hoping to penetrate all corners of the country with a target of about 1 million readers.

On sustainability he said that as a social enterprise the newspaper rely solely on advertisement and partnership, reason being that because of the segment of the society involved is so special that youth population is very important in the development of a nation.

“The intention of the newspaper is to be free forever, because we find out that more audience will be reached by the free nature of the medium compared to the more popular newspapers,” he added.
