New Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is gradually putting things in place ahead of next season.
As expected they have already been serious changes to the team with the arrival of three big names.
United has seen the departure on one legend Ryan Giggs. One other area a change was expected was in the captaincy of the team.
Wayne Rooney’s position had come under threat. But according to top British paper the Guardian, Jose Mourinho has informed Rooney that he would remain the captain.
Rooney is currently enjoying his holiday after England’s disappointment at the Euros. Iceland used the Three Lions to write their name in the history books by progressing to the quarter-finals.
Rooney is not expected to return back to training at the AON Complex until July 18.
However, one thing Rooney would have to fight is his place in the team. With the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, United now have four top attackers.
Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Rooney and Zlatan are all looking to impress Mourinho.
